Project Greenhouse – Building for the Future
At Van Haaster Vijfhuizen, we always like to look ahead. That is why, at the beginning of this year, we started one of our largest projects to date: the construction of a new 5,300 m² facility dedicated to growing our cut hyacinths in water.
This expansion marks a major step towards the future. The new facility will enable us to further automate our growing process and increase production capacity. This will allow us to work more efficiently while continuing to deliver the high quality we stand for.
Construction started with the foundations, underfloor heating and concrete floors. From there, progress was rapid: the steel structure was erected, the walls and roof were installed, and the new facility was connected to our existing building.
Significant progress has now also been made inside. Various systems, including air-supply installations, have been fitted, specialised growing rooms have been created, and work is underway on the systems for the automated cultivation tables. Everything is designed to make the winter production of our cut hyacinths run as smoothly and efficiently as possible.
It is wonderful to see a plan that started on paper gradually becoming a reality. Step by step, we are getting closer to the moment when the first cut hyacinths will grow in our new facility.
It is a fantastic addition to Van Haaster Vijfhuizen — and one we are incredibly proud of.
